Dark Celebrations is a collection of twelve short dark stories. They tell of the holidays and festivities as we know them – with a horrific twist. After finishing this Demmer’s new book, you’ll never look at the annual celebrations the same.
This collection included some very strong stories. Demmer took the horror cliche’s, shook them up and poured them into original dark fiction. Normally I don’t necessarily love stories about vampires and werewolves, but the ones in Dark Celebrations were quite enjoyable! Lots of them had me on the edge of my seat, curious how they would end. With Demmer’s way of telling stories, you just never know how it might end.
After loving The Sea was a Fair Master, I also really enjoyed reading Dark Celebrations. Once again Calvin Demmer has proved that the so-called cliche’s in horror have so much more to them. I already know his next book will be great as well! If you haven’t read Demmer’s stories yet, and if you love horror, be sure to check them out anytime soon!
*I have received a review-copy of this book. This has not influenced my opinion of it in any way!
Vampires and werewolves you say? Consider me intrigued!
