In The Dry Aaron Falk travels back to the town he grew up in for the funeral of his youth friend Luke. The circumstances in which Luke died are quite mysterious: Luke first killed his wife and six-year-old son and after he killed himself. He spared his baby daughter. What events brought him to commit this horrendous crime? And is it connected to the reason why Aaron Falk and his dad felt pressured to leave their hometown in Aaron’s teenage years?

The Dry is definitely one of the better thrillers I’ve read so far. It’s so descriptive that I almost felt the heat and the need for rain myself, while reading. The characters were well-built and they all have their own story. And then the ending … it was great. It really wasn’t what I expected it to be and it was open enough to leave me wanting to read more about Aaron Falk in the future!

  1. I’m definitely keen to try this book (and series if I like this first one). I got a copy for my mum, so I’ll borrow it at some point! I like the fact that it’s set in Australia, as I so rarely read books set there!
