After shooting her husband in the face, five times, Alicia Berenson is admitted to a mental institution. To no avail: after being admitted she doesn’t speak a word, to anyone. Psychotherapist Theo Faber has made it his goal to create an environment for Alicia, so that she will eventually talk about what’s happened.

I loved reading The Silent Patient and I read it in only two days. I was simply hooked and had a hard time putting it down once I started reading. Michaelides did a great job with story building in The Silent Patient and the plot twists were just great! The solution to the story crossed my mind a couple of times, but I didn’t know how it all could fit. In the end it all fit perfectly! The details of the human’s psychology in the book made me question if Michaelides was a bit more than a writer. His bio at the end told me that he based this story on his experiences as a psychotherapist (although I can’t find this information on the internet), which made my reading experience of The Silent Patient even better. It just all felt right!

  1. I very keen to try this book! Despite my aversion to crime and thrillers, enough of my friends have raved about this one that it made me curious, haha. My friend gifted me a copy, so hopefully I can try it soon 🙂
