In Big Little Lies we meet Madeline, Jane and Celeste. Three women whom you think you know everything about when you first meet them, but nothing is further from the truth. Each woman hides her own secrets and has her own fears. They are also mothers and soon become friends with one another when their kids go to kindergarten. They soon have to face these fears when hell breaks loose between different groups of mothers, which eventually even ends in the death of one parent.

Big Little Lies was a really entertaining read! It was just what I needed: a book where I didn’t have to think that hard and still thoroughly enjoy it. Not to toot my own horn, but I was very proud of discovering how the book would end when I was about 2/3 through the book 😌 On the one hand this is really fun, but it also isn’t. In my mind it couldn’t go any other way than what I thought, so I just had to sit it out until the end. On the other hand, Big Little Lies was still really enjoyable and the story very well thought-through! I guess I’ve just read too many thrillers in my life 😅

I think I’ll remember the story and the build-up for quite a while, but I don’t think I’ll remember the characters that well. I thought they were kinda flat and I couldn’t really identify myself with them.

I’m looking forward to reading other works by Liane Moriarty!

Have you read Big Little Lies? Or other novels by Moriarty? Any recommendations?
