Happy last day of 2018! Just like the previous years I have made an overview of my 2018 in books in my reading journal (a different journal than my bullet journal). I’ve made some graphs – yes I’m a nerd – that shows the amount of books and pages I read per month. Now let’s get on with my 2018 as a reader!
These were the numbers of 2017:
Average page count per month: 2,169 pages
Average number of books per month: 7.5 books
Month with the least number of pages: February
Month with the highest number of pages: July
Month with the least number of books: June
Month with the highest number of books: December
Favourite book of the year: IT by Stephen King
These are the number of the past year, 2018:
Average page count per month: 2,187 pages
Average number of books per month: 7.6 books
Month with the least number of pages: September
Month with the highest number of pages: May
Month with the least number of books: March & August
Month with the highest number of books: January
Favourite book of the year: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
As you can see, my 2018 was slightly “better” than my 2017 when it comes to reading. However, it definitely didn’t feel that way. 2018 was a year where I felt lots of pressure to read and read and read. At the start of the year, my Goodreads goal was to read 95 books. A little more than halfway through the year I lowered it to 90 books, because I didn’t want to feel the pressure anymore. And still I felt pressured. Because of this feeling I didn’t read a lot of big books, which I always love. I was afraid that, because of reading the bigger books, I wouldn’t be able to complete my reading goal. Crazy right? Reading is supposed to be fun and not a chore! That’s definitely something I’ll change in 2019.
In 2019 I’ll set my Goodreads reading goal to 50 books. This is a number that I know I’m easily able to read in a year. This way I can also finally read the bigger books that I still have on my shelf!
Congrats on all the books you read! Haha, I definitely also have charts + graphs of the books I read in my reading journal. I know what you mean with reading goals. I have no idea what college is going to be like next year, so I’m setting a pretty safe goal for myself this year as well. Happy 2019!
