Last week I sat down and came up with more than 10 new “this or that” questions. I’ll be dividing these over different posts, but here are the first five!
The book before or after the movie?
I always try to read the book before I watch the movie adaptation. This way I can come up with faces for the characters myself, instead of filling them in with the actor’s face. It just makes the whole reading experience more richer and unique! Also: books always contain way more background than the movie adaptations …
Werewolves or vampires?
In my teens I was obsessed with Twilight and I was a loyal member of #teamedward. So my first thought was to give vampires as the answer to this question. The more I think about it, though, the more I lean towards werewolves, because the stories around them are always a little more mysterious and contain more gore than vampire stories 🤔 And I think you know by now that I love myself some gore.
One or multiple POV’s?
Multiple! I don’t mind if it’s one chapter from one POV and the other from another POV, or if it’s a whole book from one POV and the next from another, as long as I get to know the whole story. When I read books with only one POV, I always feel like I’m missing something. Unless the beauty of the book is in the unreliability of the main character of course, like in Lolita. Although … it can get even more exciting when there’s a nice plottwist that tells you that the whole story told from one POV is a big fat lie!
First or third person POV?
First! You get to know the main character(s) so much better when you read a story from their POV – like you’re in their head(s) and I just love that 😏
Reading in bed or on the couch?
I spend most of my reading time on the couch. I only read in bed when someone else occupies the living room accompanied by loud noises, but that seldom happens. But of course I also read before bed in bed. All the other times you can find me on our big couch 🙋♂️ I know it’s weird, but I just can’t seem to get as comfortable in bed as I can on the couch!
#teamedward FTW! xD Man, I used to be obsessed with it. And it was so much fun going to see the movies each year and fangirl. Oh the good old days.
