Life at the Aspen Breeze Lodge is full of peace and tranquility . . . until a guest in unit nine turns up dead.
Jennifer left her high stress job to live a life of tranquility as the owner of a mountain resort. With newspaper editor Clint in her life, she finally has the life she dreamed of. When a guest is murdered, they must work together to unravel the story of a gold heist, a mysterious historical society, and foul murder. They will have to bend the rules and call in favors if they are going to catch the murderer before he gets away and forever ruins the peace and tranquility of the Aspen Breeze Lodge.

Murder in the Mountains is the first book in the Rocky Mountain Cozy Mystery series. If you like fast paced mysteries with a touch of romance, you’re gonna love Murder in the Mountains.

Because this story was only 160 pages long, this will be a very short review!

First of all, I really liked the setting – a cozy lodge in the snowy mountains. I think this is the perfect setting for a murder mystery. There are many people gathered at the same spot, so anyone could’ve done it really! However, I found that the story was focused too much on the two main character’s confusing love story. Were they a couple or were they not? It really seemed like they were only fooling around and that Jennifer was only using Clint so that he would help her solve the case.

The solution to the murder case was one that I didn’t see coming, but I think that was mainly because I didn’t really care that much for the story. There were some interesting bits, but afterwards I have quite a hard time remembering what all the 160 pages were filled with … It was good, but it could’ve been less focused on love and more on the actual murder case.
