My 2017 as a reader

2017-12-29 12.44.26

Another year has gone by and while Goodreads already gives us readers a good overview of our year in books, I always like to make my own graphs in my reading journal (like last year)! Here I draw the amount of pages and books per month and after that I calculate the average count per month. Yep, besides a bookie I’m also just a big nerd! Now, let’s take a look at my 2017 as a reader!

These are the numbers of 2016:

Average page count per month: About 1,725 pages
Average number of books per month: 6.5 books
Month with the least number of books: January
Month with the least number of pages: April

And these are the numbers of 2017:

Average page count per month: 2,169 pages
Average number of books per month: 7.5 books
Month with the least number of pages: February
Month with the highest number of pages: July
Month with the least number of books: June
Month with the highest number of books: December
Favourite book of the year: IT by Stephen King

I’m so happy to see that 2017 was a year where I read more books with more pages! I’m still reading Act One, Scene One – Murder by A.H. Richardson, but I’m sure I’ll finish it before this year ends. So, although I have often thought that I wouldn’t make it, I’m glad to be able to say: I have reached my reading goal of a total of 90 books!!

June was the month with the least number of books, but that was also the month I joined a read along for IT by Stephen King. Since that’s a big monster of 1.3K pages I don’t blame myself for “only” reading four books in the month of June. Because I finally finished reading IT in July, that’s the month where the number of pages was the highest – a total of almost 4,000 pages!

I’m thinking of making my reading goal for 2018 even higher, but not that much – about 95 books, so it’ll still be a challenge! If I just read some thinner books in between the normal ones, I think I’ll make it!

Here’s to another year with a lot of cosiness, food, love and of course big books!
