December book haul #1

2017-12-07 09.25.35

It’s already a long time ago since I last went to the thriftshop to buy some second hand books. So, yesterday after work (15:00) and not having any further plans, I visited the thriftshop to browse through the books and hopefully end up with some I’ve wanted to read for a while. And so I did! Here are two books that have been on my to-buy list for a while now – one English and one Dutch book.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?

I’ve heard so many good things about Gone Girl that I just HAD to buy (and read of course) it for myself one day. It was also the Goodreads winner of 2012 in the category Mystery & Thriller. It definitely sounds like a perfect thriller for me! Can’t wait to see what all the fuzz is about!

De Cock en de wurger op zondag van A.C. Baantjer

  1. Oh, I also really want to read Gone Girl! I’ve seen the movie already, but I’m curious to see if the book is even better! Enjoy reading both books ❤️
