Book Haul

img_8944After reading the A Court of Thorns and Roses series (well, only the first two books actually) I thought that it became about time to get myself involved in the Throne of Glass series as well. So last Thursday I ordered them!

Blurb Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king’s champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass–and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.
(source: Goodreads. I won’t look up the blurb of the second book, because I’m afraid of spoilers)

I read somewhere that the first book of this series is inspired by the fairy tale of Cinderella, just like A Court of Thorns and Roses is inspired by Beauty and the Beast. I just love retellings of fairy tales, and especially the ones where you don’t immediately know that it’s a retelling! The main character, Celaena Sardothien, seems even tougher than Feyre was in ACOTAR, so I’m curious if it won’t be too much. It may sound strange, but I’ve never really liked reading about strong female characters, who fight and such, because most of the time they are way too arrogant in my opinion *sorry* But I absolutely LOVED Feyre and she made me want to become even more tough myself haha!

Since I got the idea that this Throne of Glass series is even more loved than ACOTAR, I’m veryvery curious. You’ll definitely hear more about this soon!
